Primary Cheesemaker Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Starting wage: DOE

Availability: Training to begin immediately

Primary Cheesemaker works approx. 33-40 hrs./wk. days and hours may vary, in various tasks including but not limited to:

Monday (9am-6pm): 9 hours
-Assemble and sanitize bottling machine & pasteurizer prior to bottling.

-Have bottling room, delivery bay ready to go for when Ernie delivers milk.

– Disassemble and clean bottling machine, bottling room & pasteurizer after bottling.

-Close up creamery following store closing procedures.

-Run antibiotic testing on milk for state before bottling. 

Tuesday (9am-2pm): 5 hours 

-Make butter and pack into boxes.

 -Assist customers in store 

Wednesday (8am-5pm): 9 hours

-Cheesemaking

Thursday (9-6pm): 9 hours

-Assemble and sanitize bottling machine & pasteurizer prior to bottling.

-Have bottling room, delivery bay all ready to go for when Ernie brings milk down.

– Disassemble and clean bottling machine, clean bottling room & pasteurizer after bottling.

-Work with assistant to pack 40’s into boxes 

-Cut & package feta as needed.

-Run antibiotic testing on milk for state before bottling. 

Friday or Saturday (8am-5pm): 9 hours

Cheesemaking IF THERE IS ENOUGH MILK PRODUCTION, otherwise these days off  

Required:

-Cheese making schedule is dependent upon quantity of milk, this varys seasonally so must have flexible schedule. 

-We are a drug and alcohol free workplace.   

-Heavy lifting up to but not limited to 60lbs.

-Good physical condition, ability to work fast & efficiently. 

– Generally clean and fastidious manner and well groomed for food production & public contact.
