ABOUT US

Lifeline Farm is located in Victor, Montana, just 32 miles south of Missoula. Centered in the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana, our main farm is comprised of a home and barns on 46 acres of pastureland at 2533 Pleasant View Drive where farmers Jen Holmes and Ernie Harvey live with their 2 children Isabelle and Liam Harvey. Lifeline leases another approximate 400 acres locally of pasture and hay fields. Other than Jen and Ernie, Lifeline employs 2 full time and 5 part time employees who do everything from milk cows to make deliveries. Most of our cows are Braunvieh, or Brown Swiss, with some Jersey/Swiss crosses. They are milked 2 times per day in a double 3 side parlor and allowed to roam and graze freely the rest of the day on the pastures. Our milk is processed just down the road at 2427 Meridian Road where you can find our creamery and farm store. There all of our production is either bottled and sold as fresh milk or fermented into our delicious line of cheeses. We also process the cream skimmed from the bottling of our reduced fat milks into rich, golden butter. All of our cheeses are made from whole milk, which often is processed within 24 hours of harvest. All of our fluid milk, in accordance with MT law, is pasteurized before bottling and most of our cheeses are made from pasteurized milk but we also produce a line of raw milk cheddars, where the milk is never heated above 100 degrees F during processing.

Lifeline Farm also produces grass fed beef from the steers which are born on the farm.  The whey from making cheese makes an excellent feed for our 40-60 mixed breed pigs.  The beef as well as the bacon, hams, sausages and chops from the pigs are all processed using organic spices and our own nitrate-free cure just up the valley at Lolo Locker.  Many of our products are available at stores locally and regionally or, if you are ever in the neighborhood, stop in at our farm store, where you can find our full line of products as well as some great deals on items not available elsewhere.  Jen and Ernie can usually be found Saturday mornings from May-October at the Clark Fork Farmers Market in Missoula under the Higgins Street Bridge. We love to sell, eat and talk food and farming and look forward to hearing from customers.  All of us are very grateful for the amazing support Lifeline Farm has enjoyed for the the past 40 years from its many loyal customers.
